If you have been living under a rock or you don’t read tech news, let me tell you, Google has unveiled its plan to launch a game streaming service named Stadia.

If you haven’t seen the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2019, the keynote started with importance of games, how games bring people together and how civilisations have been supporting the games, by building stadiums, amphitheatres.

Such amphitheatres helped in growth of games, brought people closer and very importantly were a source of entertainment for all.

Moving forward with the topic as to why Google chose to name it’s game streaming service as Stadia.

Stadia is a PAAS, not just a service.

Understanding this can be hard for a few, by the way, PAAS stands for Platform as a Service.

Google is trying to create not just a streaming service, it wants to make a platform, for developers, gamers and viewers all in one.

Stadia is a place where people will create, collaborate, develop, play, watch and transact.

Google is trying to build a Virtual Stadium.

Sounds very familiar, that’s what stadiums and amphitheatres did in early civilisations, bringing everyone together.

If you still didn’t get it, Stadia comes from the word Stadium.
